On 12 January 2020, DStv and GOtv viewers will in the new year witness a historic Pan-African talent reality show dubbed Old Mutual’s Amazing Voices, a Pan-African singing competition. It will premiere on the small screen with contestants from nine African cities – Accra, Kumasi, Mombasa, Nairobi, Bulawayo, Harare, Cape Town, Durban and Johannesburg, – squaring off against each other for the grand prize of $100 000 (R1.5 million). The show will run for 13 weeks until 5 April 2020. Competitors will be competing in the genres of Gospel, Pop and R&B.

The show will see celebrity selectors from each of the four countries selecting three groups from each genre after mass auditions to steer them through the elimination round before the winning group is chosen. The Ghanaian celebrity selectors are ace musician Paulina Oduro, Jay Foley and DJ Vyrusky.

The show will kick-off with mass auditions then shortlisted groups will advance to the home ground battle, which will be the elimination stage. After the elimination phase, three groups will advance to the grand stage where they will sing it out to win the main prize, in Johannesburg.

The show will be broadcast on DStv Premium, DStv Compact Plus and DStv Compact. On channel 161.

IAAF World Championships

Viewers on DStv and GOtv can get their fill of athletics action when the 2019 IAAF World Championships is held in Doha, Qatar from 27 September to 6 October.LIVE on SuperSport 13 and Maximo 1.

This will be the 17th edition of the biennial athlethics event, and take place at the renovated multi-purpose Khalifa International Stadium.
