Challenges in my second marriage pushed me to becoming a social advocate – Maame Dokono

Legendary Ghanaian actress and TV personality, Grace Omaboe, widely recognized as Maame Dɔkono, has disclosed that the difficulties she encountered in her second marriage served as a catalyst for her to engage in social advocacy.

During her appearance on the Asaase Breakfast Show on Wednesday, August 7, the esteemed figure in Ghana’s theatrical scene articulated that her own experiences have significantly influenced her commitment to highlighting and advocating for social issues, especially those impacting women and children.

“I’ll say the experience in my second marriage made me speak so much about women who were abused, children who were also abused, and all that. Even the third [relationship] is in the book. The third [relationship], it was so much that I didn’t want any child to go through that even the women” Omaboe said.

The legendary thespian further expressed her belief that she has significantly influenced the performing arts industry in Ghana.

“I think the performing arts; I can say I made a lot of impact on the performing arts especially, not on television but on stage”

“We started with the stage before I got on television and the television was a smaller part of it but on stage, we did a lot because even Ɔbra, we did a lot of live shows more than the television show,” she narrated.
