The critical darling, which will return on April 15 under new showrunners Chris Alberghini and Mike Chessler, has added four heavy recurring players to its ranks: Elizabeth Whitson, Kofi Siriboe, Evan Crooks and Monty Geer. Ghanaian darling, Kofi will portray the role of Tyler, a new student from Rwanda who is spending a year studying in America.

‘Awkward’ is about the specific incidents in our formative years that define us -sometimes for the best and sometimes for the worst. The show centers around fifteen-year-old Jenna Hamilton, who, like many, feels invisible to her peers and desperately wants to find her place–which is hard to do in a day and age where fitting in means standing out. Unfortunately, Jenna’s visibility comes on the heels of an accident that gives her a not-so-fun stigma. Awkward has become one of MTV’s signature scripted series. It currently ranks as the Viacom-owned network’s longest-running scripted comedy”.
