Channel O brings 54th Grammy Awards live to Africa
Channel O is ensuring that African fans don’t miss out on the build-up to Music’s Biggest Night – the 54th Annual GRAMMY Awards! In the week before the awards, which take place on Sunday 12 February, Channel O will sizzle with a slate of specially created packages that will take a look at different aspects of the GRAMMY Awards! A highlight is sure to be Channel O VJ Dineo Moeketsi on the Official Grammys Red Carpet, catching up with the big stars and celebrities on what they expect from this year’s event. Adding to the excitement around the GRAMMY Awards will be several high-impact fashion and celebrity packages including exclusive Red Carpet coverage of the legendary Pre-GRAMMY party hosted by music biz veteran Clive Davis and a backstage look at The Roots jam session at the Key Club. Another not-to-be-missed package is Fashion Innovators, which takes a look at those celebs who constantly up the ante on the red carpet; a GRAMMY Gala Salute to the Icons Red Carpet (an exclusive report from the red carpet of the biggest Grammy sponsored party of the week) plus The Fashion Suites, which goes inside the luxury suites that are always the biggest conversation piece of the week. The 54th Annual GRAMMY® Awards will be hosted by LL COOL J – this is the first time in seven years that “Music’s Biggest Night” will have one show host. “I will always have fond memories of my first GRAMMY® Awards and to now be hosting the GRAMMY show, in the company of so many other incredible artists, is a dream come true. Great performances and great music — it’s gonna be a great night!” says two-time GRAMMY winner and this year’s host LL COOL J. The event will see current GRAMMY® nominees Coldplay and Rihanna perform live together for the first time. Four-time GRAMMY winner Rihanna has four nominations: Album of the Year and Best Pop Vocal Album for Loud; and two nods in Best Rap/Sung Collaboration for “What’s My Name?” (with Drake), and “All of the Lights” (with Kanye West, Kid Cudi & Fergie). Seven-time GRAMMY-winning group Coldplay is up for three awards: Best Pop Duo/Group Performance for “Paradise,” and Best Rock Performance and Best Rock Song for “Every Teardop is a Waterfall.” Other performers and presenters at the 54th Annual GRAMMY Awards include Bruno Mars, Nicki Minaj, Foo Fighters, Taylor Swift, Arcade Fire, Eminem, Lady Antebellum, Lady Gaga, Miranda Lambert, Muse, and Katy Perry; Justin Bieber and Usher, Jaden Smith; B.o.B, Janelle Monáe; Drake, Cee Lo Green, Gwyneth Paltrow, Mick Jagger, Raphael Saadiq, Selena Gomez, Norah Jones, and Blake Shelton.
