Destiny-s-Child-to-Perform-Live-at-the-Super-Bowl-Halftime-Show-2_zpscc78d9c4Destiny-s-Child-to-Perform-Live-at-the-Super-Bowl-Halftime-Show-2_zpscc78d9c4They’re back! Fresh off Beyonce‘s announcement that Destiny’s child would be reuniting to release brand new music and another album, we’ve got their new song “Nuclear.” As previously reported, the Pharrell-produced track “Nuclear”, that was co-written by Michelle Williams, is one of the new original tracks on Destiny’s Child’s upcoming reunion album, Love Songs. And today, it’s leaked out for all the stand to sip. Against a typical up-tempo Pharrell sound, the ladies are singing a love song to their men about how their love is the center of their world. But do Destiny’s Children still have the shimmer they once had making those harmonies? Listen below and decide for yourselves: Us Weekly also reports that Kelly & Michelle will be joining Beyonce on stage during her Super Bowl halftime show next month. It has yet to be confirmed, but we wouldn’t be mad if it happens. Sony Music has exclusively given Mashable the audio for “Nuclear,” the first song from Destiny’s Child since the group broke up in 2005. Here is the world premiere of it: The track will be featured on Destiny’s Child’s recently — and unexpectedly — announced album. Titled Love Songs, the 14-track album is a compilation of the trio’s romantic music from 1997 to 2004 plus “Nuclear.” It is available for pre-order and comes out Jan. 29. The release of “Nuclear” marks the first time in eight years that Beyoncé Knowles, Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams have joined forces to unleash a recording together.]]>

Future’s ‘Life Is Good’ Ft. Drake Certified 10x Platinum

Published

on

Life isn’t just good. It’s sensational.

Just over two years after its release, “Life Is Good,” the seminal 2019 collaboration from the historically prolific tandem of Future and Drake, has been certified 10x platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America. Future has just gone Diamond.

The latest certification for “Life Is Good” marks a career first for Future, who has a slew of multiplatinum singles and a multiplatinum album under his belt. Only 66 songs have ever been certified Diamond in the US (at the time of this writing), placing Future in one of the most exclusive clubs in recorded music.

At the time of its release, the reception to the song was immense and impossible to ignore. Future and Drake, the duo responsible for 2015’s bombshell joint studio album, What A Time To Be Alive, have a sterling reputation that’s impossible to ignore. That “Life Is Good” may very well wind up their crowning achievement is an accomplishment in itself.

For Future, this is a fitting point on his career arc, which doesn’t seem intent on leveling off any time soon. When Future, the musical descendant of The Dungeon Family, began bubbling out of the Atlanta mixtape circuit and started collection nationwide acclaim, it would have raised the brows of many to suggest that the part-time rapper, part-time singer would be one of the most impactful and imitated mainstream artists of the next decade. However, the formula he championed and stood behind has become the blueprint for many.

This Diamond certification is more than a sales acknowledgment, it is a testament to the work he’s put in.

Smiling With No Teeth landed this March to critical acclaim including praise from NPR Music, i-D, The Guardian, Paste Magazine, Hypebeast and many more. On the album, Owusu presents a soul-bearing narrative and full-length release that is impossible to ignore. It intuitively picks apart and reassembles themes of mental health, resilience and race, to become a culmination of ideas and defining chapter in Owusu’s acclaimed discography, that begs for listening over and over.
The 15-track LP seamlessly defies genre boundaries while delineating the nuanced complexities of mental health, as well as Owusu’s experience of living as a black man in a white society. Owusu illustrates each disclosure from within his mind under a tessellation of soundscapes, moving through future-funk, rap and OG hip-hop to guitar-laden odysseys veering from punk and indie-rock to tinges of wistful folk. Smiling With No Teeth, at its heart, remains dedicated to Owusu’s core audience, those who live outside of the box, out of choice or in a decided lack of belonging.
