Celebrated Ghanaian gospel singer, Celestine Donkor, has responded to Rev. Abraham Lamptey, the founder and leader of the Believers House Of Worship International who recently opined that gospel events should be free because God doesn’t have a price tag. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rFiSiIDc5tA

The man of God, while speaking with Graphic Showbiz on the sidelines of the launch of his annual event, Art of Worship, asserted that such platforms shouldn’t be an avenue to make money since God has no price tag.

“It doesn’t matter what the artist billed on the programme. Whether an A-list Gospel act or not, patrons should not pay to attend the event. I don’t have a problem with others charging fees, but if the event is meant to encounter God for all the wonderful things He has done for us, then I think admission should be free,” he said.

However, responding to the claims of Rev Lamptey, the ‘Only You’ hitmaker, in a social media post divulged that nothing about the gospel and salvation is for free. She noted that one way or the other, there must be a sacrifice.

According to her, gospel artistes go through a lot to organize concerts, promote music, shoot videos, adding that she knows some artists who have to hustle abroad to pay debts piled up from worship concerts.

”Man of God, I respect you, paa, but this one de3, it’s contrary to what the bible teaches.Nothing about the gospel and salvation is for free. One way or the other, there must be a sacrifice.

”Gospel artists, we go through a lot to organize concerts, promote music, shoot videos…eeei… It’s very expensive! I know some artists who have to go hussle abroad to pay debts piled up from worship concerts,” she wrote.

”Please, I think this issue is a thing of the past, because our fans out there are doing very well with buying tickets to support their own..Let’s embrace this new Era. The gospel must reach the ends of the world. We can’t do it alone, we need financial support to do this,” she added.
