Nollywood legend, Patience Ozokwor has expressed her sorrow following the heart breaking news of colleague, Onyeka Onwenu’s passing.
Onyeka Onwenu, a music icon and a seasoned Nollywood actress, reportedly collapsed after a performance in Lagos and was pronounced dead at Reddington Hospital.
Patience Ozokwor, while speaking on NAN in Enugu on Wednesday, July 31, 2024, described Onyeka Onwenu’s death as painful and hurtful, noting their close friendship.
The celebrated actress stated that the unexpected loss of her colleague and friend has left her feeling downcast and hurt.
The thespian further questioned the prevalence of death and the underlying causes, noting that everyone seems to be affected by it. she also highlighted the widespread stress in the country (Nigeria).
“Onyeka is not just a colleague but a friend. I am downcast now and hurting because of her death and the fact that she was not sick. How can everyone be dying like that, what is causing so much death? Everyone is stressed up in this country, ” she said.
Aside Patience, top Nigerian music acts and movie legends have been mourning the passing of Onyeka Onwenu, who died on Tuesday at the age of 72.
The news has sent waves of grief across the nation as fans, colleagues, and admirers reflect on her immense contributions to the arts.
