I chose to stay in Kumasi to prove to the young ones that they could make it there- Flowking Stone
Kumasi-based rapper, Flowking Stone, has revealed that he chose to stay back in Kumasi to show the youth that they can make it in the industry without moving to the nation’s capital.
According to the “Go Low” hitmaker, he could have moved to Accra to pursue his dreams as a rapper, however, he wanted to set an example to the young rappers in Kumasi that they can make it in Kumasi.
In an interview with Andy Dosty on Adom TV‘s Showtyme, Flowking Stone stated;
“I just decided to live in Kumasi because I realised my people felt a certain way when an artiste leaves Kumasi to go and live in Accra. Whenever an artist leaves Kumasi to go and live in Accra, my people feel betrayed. Because of that, I decided to stay and prove to the young ones that an artist can live in Kumasi and make it.”
Flowking Stone explained that after holding down the Kumasi music scene for almost a decade, he was glad when the young talents from the “Kumerica” movement blew up.
“When the “Kumerica” vibe came, I was the happiest. If you remember, I was the one who came to on your (Andy Dosty) show to explain what it was all about. For a longtime, people in Kumasi, in entertainment, we don’t get the shine we deserve. So the young ones fought back with vim and birthed the Kumerica movement. I was about the frontline for almost 1o years and so it was refreshing to see them do their thing,” he added.
