Well-known Ghanaian gospel musician and police officer, ASP Kofi Sarpong has shared in an interview on ‘Y’adwuma nie’ on Angel FM with Ohemaa Woyeje, the story of how his music journey began even before he joined the Ghana Police Service.

Despite his love for music, it was only in 2009, while serving as a constable, that he gained recognition in the music industry.

I was a musician way back but I only hit the limelight while in service in 2009. Even after graduating as a constable, I often sang in churches, though not all were welcoming,” he noted.

ACPKofi Sarpong mentioned that he faced challenges when trying to balance his passion for music with his duties as a police officer.  One of the toughest hurdles was seeking permission from the administration to record music in the studio.  However, to his surprise, the police administration approved his request, allowing him to pursue his musical career while still serving as a police officer.

The ‘Agyenkwa’ hitmaker further expressed gratitude for their support, as it enabled him to continue his music journey without having to give up his role in law enforcement.

“One of the toughest things was informing the administration that I wanted to go to the studio to record music.
