Earlier this year, she portrayed the “Queen of Soul” Aretha Franklin on the big screen in the hit film, Respect. She recently sat down with The Ringer for an in-depth interview, while Variety hailed the original soundtrack standout “Here I Am (Singing My Way Home)” as “an end-credits capper that has Jennifer Hudson, who plays Franklin, singing a gospel-influenced original song that takes the film to church one last time.American Songwriter noted, “who better to bring Franklin’s life to the silver screen than the beautiful-voiced, supremely skilled Hudson.”
