Award-winning American rapper, Ludacris has hinted of giving Ghanaians a rollicking show at this year’s edition of the annual Vodafone 020 Live concert also featuring Sarkodie, 4×4, Naeto C and Black N Peach. In an interview a few hours after arriving in Ghana, the ATL rapper promised to put on a good show with his Disturbing the Peace (DTP) crew.
“Just expect a lot of energy, expect us to disturb the peace as the name implies. We gonna have fun. We have a lot of materials, ten years worth of material so that’s gonna be a good show”, said the rapper.
Ludacris also gave some good advice to budding Ghanaian rappers who dream of having a successful career like him, emphasizing the need to be original and true to one ’s self.
“Absolutely, I think anybody can make it as long as they believe in themselves. As long as you consistently be who you are, and not try to be like anybody else; and you tell your story and what goes on in your life; and you express that in a creative and artistic way, you can definitely be way bigger than I have ever been.”
On African music, Ludacris who recently invited Dbanj to his 7th annual Luda Day Weekend event said he is familiar with some African music and is willing to learn more. He also hinted of some collaboration with African acts without giving away too much. He said, “I am familiar with some of it and I am trying to get even more familiar with more of it. There are definitely some collaborations in the works, I can’t give away the surprise but very soon.
The rapper is currently working on ‘Fast and Furious 6’, which is currently wrapping up in London. He is also working on a new album, ‘Ludaversal’, which should be out by first quarter of 2013. He gave some juice on what the album would sound like:
“I think every album is like a progression, I am working with different producers. We definitely have Usher on this album which is a great thing. Ne-Yo is on the album and we got producers like David Guetta, we got Stargate, we got the Interns. The Kelly Rowland single just came out so you need to check that out. It’s called ‘Representing’”
