Medikal suspended from Twitter for “impersonating” President Akufo-Addo?
Ghanaian rapper Medikal has been suspended from Twitter due to allegations that he impersonated President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.
On November 6, 2022, Elon Musk, Twitter’s new owner, declared that he would disable accounts that impersonate others without being clearly identified as parody pages.
“Going forward, any Twitter handles engaging in impersonation without clearly specifying “parody” will be permanently suspended,” Musk tweeted.

Few days after the announcement, Medikal has fallen victim to the new rules on the microblogging website.

His Twitter account was suspended for cloning President Akufo-Addo after he made a few changes to his public profile on Tuesday night.
Medikal changed his profile picture to that of President Nana Akufo-Addo and his username to Mr. President, causing Twitter to suspend his account. Despite this, he continued to use the handle @AMGMedikal.
Following these changes, the award-winning rapper’s account was suspended. On the artist’s profile, the app currently displays a blank account with the message “Account Suspended.”
Although Elon previously hinted, several theories are circulating on social media about whether the restriction was related to Twitter’s new policy.
Elon Musk went on to say that, as with Medikal, the suspension would come with “no warning,” and that anyone changing their name would also lose their verification badge.
