Menaye Donkor honoured by Miss Universe Ghana organization
Manaye Donkor, a model, philanthropist, entrepreneur and wife of Sulley Muntari, has been chosen as the personality of the year by the organizers of the Miss Universe Ghana pageant. The former Miss Universe Ghana beauty queen was selected for her contributions to humanity, which includes charity work in deprived communities particularly in the area of education. The announcement was made during the finals of the 2012 Miss Universe Ghana search. In 2004, when Menaye Donkor won Miss Universe Ghana, she decided to use her position for good and embarked on her charity activities. She has since taken the full financial responsibility for a school in her hometown of Agona Asafo, to provide rural children the same quality education that is enjoyed by many urban children in Ghana. The school currently provides education for hundreds of children in the region at absolutely no cost to their parents or families. The Menaye Charity Organisation is solely responsible for the running costs of the school including building maintenance, the teachers, school uniforms, books, and stationary. The charity also recently installed an IT suite at the school. As the new face of Printex, Menaye continues to support the school, with 100% of her earnings from Printex going towards its upkeep, and through which she intends to purchase a school bus to provide free transportation for the children, some of whom have to walk many miles on their round trip. Menaye’s charity works also caught the eyes the chiefs and people of Agona Asafo who recently installed her as the ‘Nkosuohemaa’ (Development Queen) of the area. Menaye who is currently in Milan could not attend the Miss Universe Ghana finale due to an engagement.]]>
