Komla Dumor won the Journalist of the Year award in 2003 at the Ghana Journalist Association Awards. As of June 2012, Komla was the main presenter of the BBC World News flagship programme Focus on Africa. Komla joined the BBC African Service in 2006 as host of the radio programme Network Africa. From 2008 to 2012 he presented The World Today on the BBC World Service. He began presenting the World News and Africa Business Report on BBC World News television. Prior to joining the BBC he worked for JOY FM in Accra. Royal Variety Performance 2012; The first ever Royal Variety Performance concert took place in 1912. Since 1921 it has become an annual event, with great musical performances in front of members of the British royal family. This is the first time the event is taking place at the Royal Albert Hall, in front of its largest audience ever. The event is hosted by British comedian David Walliams and was attended by Queen Elizabeth II and the Duke of Edinburgh. Some of this year’s performers include Alicia Keys, Neil Diamond, Robbie Williams, Kylie Minogue, Rod Stewart, One Direction and Andrea Bocelli.
