munyaZimbabwe’s Munya Chidzonga, who came second in the just ended Big Brother All-Stars remains open about his disappointment when he didn’t win the $200,000 prize money, just as the expression on his face at the finale suggested. In a telephone conversation the Big Brother star commented: “to be honest, I was devastated. I really expected that this time, I was going to go home with the prize”.

According to Munya, who was tipped to win by many viewers across the continent, he had no idea why the results didn’t go in his favour. “I can only think it was a change of heart from Africa. It was pretty close, I don’t know how the votes shifted in the end,” he commented. He also added that even though he missed out on the $200,000, he took home $2,000, a pat on the back and a world of great exposure.

He recounted having dinner in the sky as his biggest highlight from the Big brother All Stars experience. He also enjoyed the free-styling he did in the house because he feels that, it helped to hone his rapping skills. According to him, he formed a good bond with particularly with fellow housemates, Kaone, Code, and Tatiana but had a cordial relation with everyone else.

Munya also commented that with the Big Brother experience behind him, he is looking forward to the premiere of his short film titled ‘Lobola (Bride Price)’, slated for November 25 in Zimbabwe. ‘Lobola’ is a comedy about three brothers who return to Zimbabwe after living in the US for 15 years. Munya’s character in a bid to take over a family business is forced to get married before he can take over the business. The movie explores the bridal process of Zimbabwe in a witty way.  Apart from playing the lead in the movie, Munya also co-produced it.

According to the Munya, he hopes that the Big Brother experience would also give him more movie opportunities across the continent. “Film making is what I really want to do and it was one of the bases for my stint in the Big Brother House. I wanted to gain the platform to make and sell commercial films. I definitely have dreams of working all over the continent from Ghana to Cape Town, to Nigeria. If the script is right and the opportunity presents itself, I will grab the bull by the horn”.

He also remarked that if he had to make a film about his experience in the Big Brother house, it would be a horror movie. “I think I would make a horror movie where people keep going missing from the house; strange things keep happening and the whole house goes haywire”.

Munya also hinted that wedding bells could be ringing his way pretty soon, since he started going through the whole Lobola process back in Zimbabwe before entering the Big Brother House.  He however said when the right time comes; all of Africa would get to know of it.
