Ohemartin claims there’s an NGO enriching themselves with funds donated to help LGBTQ+ members
Ghanaian Transgender, Martin Hughes, popularly known as Ohemartin has alleged that there is an LGBTQ+ organisation in Ghana pocketing funds meant to help the LGBTQ+ community.
According to her, several amounts of funds have been donated to the organization, however, the managers of the organization are only using the funds to enrich themselves and not the members of the LGBTQ+ community.
“Thereās an Lgbt organization in Ghana enriching themselves with funds donated to help lgbt communities, but thereās a BIG SURPRISE!!!!!!!!” she tweeted on Monday, March 28.

While Ohemartin is yet to name the organization and provide more details to her claims, Twitter has pounced on her allegations, with different reactions.
A user by the name @xorlaliplange replied to Ohemartin’s claims stating;
“IKR SIS. Meanwhile, these are the individuals putting their faces and lives out there on behalf of the community and trying to find liberation for the community. You donāt think they deserve good lives too? They set the policies, pay academic and legal fees for LGBT+ folk ā¦”

Ohemartin’s claims come at a time where there are serious discussions surrounding an Anti-LGBTQ+ bill that has been presented to parliament waiting to be passed.
The proposed bill includes criminalising LGBT advocacy, requirements to denounce “suspects”, advocates for conversion therapy and imposes longer jail sentences.
