Over 5,000 aspiring singers already register for new season of Vodafone Icons

Published

on

iconsAccording to sources, over 5,000 aspiring singers have already pre-registered to take part in the second edition of Vodafone’s reality TV show, ‘Icons’. The new season which is open to both male and female singers, has seen overwhelming registration via the Vodafone shortcode 1738 and the numbers continue to rise. With such a huge prize package and opportunities to perform on the same platform with international artists awaiting the winners, it is not surprising that increasingly, Vodafone Icons is becoming the singing contest of choice for many young and aspiring singers in Ghana.  RnM, winners of the maiden edition of Icons, nabbed GHC 20,000 each, a one year recording contract, a Nissan Pajero, return tickets to London, the chance to perform on the same stage with Trey Songz and seasoned artistes at Vodafone’s 020 Live and Samsung Galaxy Tabs apiece.  They also performed at Miss Ghana, UK. The live auditions for the second season of ‘Vodafone Icons: Mixed Edition’ will kick off at the Gariba Lodge on Friday, January 20. Takoradi ‘ICONS’ hopefuls get their chance to audition on Friday 27th January at the Raybow Hotel; Kumasi on Saturday 4th February at Miklin Hotel; and finally in Accra on Saturday 12th February at the La Palm Hotel. Singers can make a two-minute YouTube video of themselves singing, and post the link on http://www.facebook.com/vodafoneghana for consideration; or send their name, age and city to Vodafone shortcode 1738. Contestants can also get more from their big day through special audition tips, which they can also receive by texting ‘SUB ICONS’ to shortcode 1738. The contest is open to aspiring singers aged between 18-30.  ]]>
