Premier League, FA Cup and Serie A preview, 16-22 April 2021

SuperSport viewers on DStv and GOtv can look forward to action from the 2020-21 Premier League, FA Cup and Serie Aseasons, with matches scheduled for 16-22 April 2021.

SuperSport is your #HomeOfFootball and the ultimate destination for lovers of ‘The Beautiful Game’.

The first semifinal in this weekend’s FA Cup action sees Chelsea face Manchester City at Wembley Stadium on the evening of Saturday 17 April. The Blues are looking to return to the FA Cup final for a second successive year (after their defeat to Arsenal last season), while the Citizens were last in the final in 2019, when they famously thrashed Watford 6-0.

The teams last met in a Premier League clash at Stamford Bridge earlier this year, with City claiming a 3-1 away win thanks to goals from Ilkay Gundogan, Phil Foden and Kevin De Bruyne.

“I trust my players so much. They don’t trust me but I trust them with their quality!” said City boss Pep Guardiola coming into this clash, while Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel is enjoying his side’s FA Cup adventure but wants “more precision” going forward: “We need to catch the momentum to be sharper, to be closer and to be more aggressive,” said the German tactician.

The second semifinal on Sunday 18 April sees Wembley Stadium host a clash between Leicester City and Southampton – the two dark horses for the trophy. The Foxes showed their pedigree by putting out Manchester United in the previous round, but they would do well not to underestimate a Saints side which can afford to put all of their effort and intensity into this clash.

“I think we have shown in the FA Cup against Bournemouth, okay only a Championship team, but even there we have shown what made us strong and how we can play,” said Southampton manager Ralph Hasenhuttle. “We expect a much tougher game now against Leicester, but (we must have) the same behaviours and same effort, then we have a chance to win against them.”

City manager Brendan Rodgers, meanwhile, is hoping to make history with the Foxes, as the club’s best showing in the FA Cup is four runners-up finishes in 1949, 1961, 1963 and 1969.

“We are in the semifinal and we have a chance to get to the final and create history,” Rodgers said. “For the club to get to the final and win the trophy would be really special. It’s a trophy in their history they haven’t won. It’s a tough game in the semifinal but the club has never won the FA Cup so to be able to do something like that will be special.”

The pick of matches from the coming week’s Premier League action sees Everton host Tottenham Hotspur in the round opener on the evening of Friday 16 April at Goodison Park. Both teams are fighting to claim a place in European football next season, while the clash of styles between managers Carlo Ancelotti and Jose Mourinho is one for football purists to purr over.

“I am sure the motivation is really strong on our side. I think we need a lot of points!” said Ancelotti of the Toffees’ European hopes. “We have to fight. But if we need this amount of points it means the other teams need that amount too. It will be a really exciting challenge for us and am exciting race with a lot of teams involved. Every game will be exciting.”

Mourinho, meanwhile, has lamented his side’s recent inconsistency: “The point for me is to set up a team that came here with every intention to win and in the end, a little bit of deja vu in some situations. I believe many of these white hairs, they come with things I’m not used to seeing in football matches at this level.”

The weekend also features a must-win game for Newcastle United at home to high-flying West Ham United, Arsenal hosting Fulham for a London derby, and Manchester United hosting Burnley at Old Trafford.

The evening of Monday 19 April is headlined by a potential thriller between Leeds United and Liverpool – the teams played out an amazing 4-3 win for the Reds at Anfield when they met back in September 2020 – while the remainder of the week features the FA Cup semifinalists catching up games, as Chelsea host Brighton & Hove Albion on Tuesday, Manchester City visit Aston Villa on Wednesday and Leicester host West Bromwich Albion on Thursday.

The headline fixture from Serie A this weekend sees league leaders Internazionale head to Stadio Diego Armando Maradona on the evening of Sunday 18 April to face hosts Napoli.

While Inter are looking to push themselves closer to a first Serie A title in more than a decade (their last came back in 2010 as part of the treble they won under Jose Mourinho), Napoli are in a scrap for a berth in next season’s UEFA Champions League with Milan, Atalanta, Juventus, Lazio and Roma.

The Nerazzurri boss Antonio Conte knows that the Scudetto is close for his team, but has warned against complacency in this final stretch of the season.

“We know full well that Serie A is very difficult and every match is a battle to get the victory. The closer we get to the finish line, the clearer we can see the prize at the end,” said Conte. “Everyone is looking at that direction and we see it from a different angle to the others right now, but we still have it all to do. We’ve achieved nothing yet.”

Napoli manager Gennaro Gattuso wants his side to keep their heads down and “think of one opponent at a time” as they focus on their goal of finishing in the top four of the standings. The Neapolitans boss has come under fire from many quarters this season, but a Champions League qualification amidst such tough competition would be a fine achievement.

Elsewhere in Serie A this weekend, that top-four battle will see a key clash between Atalanta and Juventus in Bergamo, with even Bianconeri stalwart Giorgio Chiellini admitting that hopes of winning the league are gone.

“We have to stay united and do as little talking as possible. Let’s avoid proclamations, instead working day after day. We must go forward and try to do our best so we can achieve an important target for us, a Champions League place,” said the defender.

The round also sees Torino scrapping for their lives in a home clash with Roma, Lazio hosting Benevento and Milan looking to claim three vital points at home to Genoa, with Ivorian Franck Kessie set to play a major role for the Rossoneri once again.

The Queens of Durban are not Holding Back!

Real Housewives Of Durban The S4 2024

The Real Housewives of Durban reunion will air on Showmax in two parts on 15 and 22 May 2024, following a dramatic Season 4 finale. It saw the ladies separated into two groups and tea spilt from all directions, with accusations of witchcraft, infidelity, control and alcoholism.

We chatted with all the ladies to get a sense of how they are feeling about the reunion, which will be hosted by MaBlerh, and facing up to everything that’s happened this season.  Newcomers Ameigh Thompson, Angel Ndlela and Zama Ngcobo are all feeling nervous about their first reunion but that won’t stop them from showing up.

Zama, who has been involved in some of the biggest feuds in the season, says she won’t run away from anything that happened. “I am not a coward,” she says. “What I said on the show is how I feel. People think I won’t show up to the reunion because I am scared. I am not. I am going to go in there and speak my mind. I will not be intimidated by anyone.”

Angel says she’s looking forward to the reunion. “I am glad that I will have the chance to tell my side of the story, while providing clarity where need be,” she says. “Watching the show, I learned a lot of things about myself. It was an amazing experience.”

Ameigh feels like the show has made her stronger and more resolute in her decisions. “Watching myself has been very interesting,” she says. “The journey has made me realise that I am the person I have always known I am. I have been through a lot as a person and a mom, and I hope that my story has helped other women who are in similar situations. There is a light at the end of every tunnel.”

For the OG’s who have done this from the beginning, they understand better than anyone that reunions are a game-changer. Nonku Williams is very clear on what needs to be said and done. “I have been doing this for so long,” she says. “The reason why I am still here is because I understand the assignment. Some people come here, and they want to be what they are not and that is why it does not land. I will always be me and that is my superpower.”

Sorisha Naidoo is done trying to make peace where there is none. “I know what my boundaries are, especially when it comes to friendships,” she says. “I know who my friends are and I know the people who I want to move forward with. And that takes the load off me because I don’t have to please everyone.”

JoJo Robinson, who joined the show in Season 2, says this season has been her calmest yet. “Season 4 has been very relaxed for me,” she says. “I had a very intense Season 3 but just like that, things changed. I’m glad I came back.” Maria Valaskatzis and Slee Ndlovu, who both joined the show in Season 3, have been at the centre of some of the biggest conflicts this season.

“My game plan for this reunion is just to speak the truth,” says Maria. “I am not going to tiptoe around anything and anyone.” Slee feels like she wants to get to the bottom of things that were said about her. “My biggest thing for this reunion is the witchcraft accusations,” she says. “I need the people who accused me of that to tell me what they mean by that, because I am confused and offended.”

Bnxn: This project shows synergy at its finest.
Ruger: 100.
Bnxn: It shows quality, it shows the real essence of collaboration – how to bounce off each other, how to learn from each other, how to pick this and flow off what this person [did]. It’s like a relay race—
Ruger: 100!
Bnxn: —but we’re only coming first, you feel me. You gotta understand from the beginning to the end of every record, it’s a crazy collaborative process, from the artists to the producers, so I am beyond proud of this project. It’s why the last song we said “Not Done,” because hopefully…
Ruger: Hopefully we’re not done!

Ruger tells Apple Music why He and Bnxn Work Well Together

You know most Afrobeats artists, they’re always about gyration, enjoyment – let’s make songs people will party to, let’s talk about enjoyment and money and that. We’re talking about everything! Go back to our projects, we talk about everything, we talk about relationships. Most artists in Naija don’t talk about relationships like that, they talk about ‘your body’s banging, you’re fine, you’re this’ but we’re saying the deeper things. As much as the whole world is appreciating that part, I think Nigerians have to actually appreciate that about us, because when we go outside the country that’s what they love about us. “That guy is speaking to me!”
