Sepenyo Dzokoto wins Best Journalist in the Education award, sponsored by Multichoice Ghana
Multichoice Ghana Ghana recently sponsored the award for Best Journalist in the Education category and Best Radio Feature category at the Banquet Hall of the State House on Saturday August 25th 2012. The seventeenth (17th) edition of the annual Ghana Journalists Awards was held under the theme “Giving credence to free and fair elections; the role of the media”. The night saw over thirty five (35) awards presented to media houses and journalists from Print and electronic media for outstanding stories within the year. Mr. Sepenyo Dzokoto of the Ghana News Agency won the Multichoice Ghana sponsored category for Education whilst Nelson Nyardror of Diamond Radio in the Northern Region emerged as the winner of the Beast Radio Feature category. Mr. Dzorkoto, a GNA correspondent in the Volta Region, stated that the award would inspire him to set higher targets in his journalistic career in order to win more awards. Mr. Dzorkoto expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the organizers, his family, friends and his colleagues who believed in his abilities and continued to urge him to strive to become the very best in his field . Mr. Nelson Nyardror won the Best Radio Feature with his story titled “Nalerigu Mass Rape”, a story which reveals the ugly truth behind the mass rape of families in Nalerigu and the concealment of the incident by some victims and their families for fear of stigmatization. Multichoice is keenly aware of its responsibility, not only to provide television services that deliver entertainment and information, but to contribute meaningfully towards the development of communities in which it operates. The company therefore aims to nurture talent, harness skills and expand opportunity, principally through technology access.
