Skannah is the next big star Ghanaians should keep an eye on

Published

on

srinnah

It’s amazing how Skannah is gradually building momentum around his dominance. He is the next big Ghanaian act to look out for. Best known for doing good music, matched up with his aim of gaining global attention with his music craft, Nungua-based afro-fusion artist Robert Nii Okpoti Sowah, better known as Skannah is on the verge of cementing his rightful spot using his yardstick in the music industry.

Aside from some fans comparing his current song “No Lust” to Camidoh’s “Kaba”, he’s musically smart, intelligent, incredibly philosophical and relatable. I assure you, he’ll stand the test of time. His work ethic and attitude towards music validate his chances of becoming one of the best and top-ranking acts in the music space. All he needs is a solid support system from the industry, gorilla marketing and promotional strategies to keep him on top of his game.

Watch the lyrics video below.

Signed to Liquid Zero Records, Skannah is currently promoting his most talked about hit single “No Lust” which is receiving massive rotation on all the major radio stations in the country. The lyrics video is chalked over 16k views on YouTube in less than 2 weeks. He has over 7 singles in the market and many unreleased projects under his sleeves. He’s the yin yang type of artist in the sense that he uses both real-life and imaginative stories to paint relatable messages intertwined with positive vibes.

Environmental, emotional and real-life circumstances are his tools and inspirational fuel for composing good music. Skannah is a force to reckon with. Based on the merit of his hard work, style, fashion sense and the path he has carved for himself, I can boldly say he is a household name. His blend of the local dialect, songwriting skills, how he jumps on a beat, the types of instrumentation he rides on, subject matter and his vocals make him exceptionally incomparable. Keep an eye on him.

Music and skate culture come together as SPINALL, Summer Walker, DJ Snake, and Äyannalink up for their impressive collaboration, “Power.” The global union of legendary musicians is a must-watch, as Walker and Äyanna’s sonorous vocals glide against the Afro-pop production.
Directed by Charlie Buhler of Doomsday, the video features fast-paced footage from the highly anticipated Flipper’s Skate Heist film: masked skaters swipe a pair of exclusive roller skates, while SPINALL, Summer, DJ Snake and Äyanna are stationed at the renowned Flipper’s Roller Boogie Palace.
“Power (Remember Who You Are)” is the soundtrack of the forthcoming film, which will be released in the lead-up to the opening of Flipper’s Roller Boogie Palace’s flagship roller skating rink in London. Watch “Power (Remember Who You Are)” HERE.
Says Äyanna: “Working with the skaters was deeply inspiring. It was an honour to share the space with them, and everyone on set was so passionate about the song and project as a whole. Being apart of the directors vision was humbling and a real honour. It felt amazing to be included in a culturally significant project.”
The stellar lineup includes an all-star cast of producers, including SPINALL, DJ Snake, Nicholas “Unknown Nick” Audino, and The Eggman. This superb cast enlisted legendary Dr. Dre, who mixed the starry track. The song is also executive produced by Jimmy Iovine, and LVRN’s Tunde Balogun and Justice Baiden. The newly formed alliance on “Power (Remember Who You Are)” teases what’s to come in the upcoming short film Flipper’s Skate Heist — a wild adventure mixing the blending roots of amapiano with skate culture.

Nirvana Nokwe’s New EP Nirvous Love Is a Sensual Exploration of Self

Published

Nirvous Love

Multifaced musical force Nirvana Nokwe has released her much awaited EP Nirvous Love, a soulful 6-track project stamping the budding artist’s credentials as an auteur of immersive and affecting music.

Stream/Download Nirvous Love here: https://paradise.fanlink.to/NIRVOUSLOVE

Featured on the cover of Apple Music’s new releases Nirvous Love is an EP that brings one’s soul on a voyage of discovery: a story of love and awakening. Being self-aware due of the replicated dynamics of destruction, betrayal and hurt created in childhood, Nirvana explores the vindictive streak to attaining the love we all deserve.

With singles such as “2 Woke 4 Love” and “Waiting” laying the foundation, Nirvana delivers a cohesive and slyly eclectic body of work, rooted in retro, indie rock, Zulu drums, gqom and amapiano sounds, along with her ear-tingling vocal melodies and themes that dig into varying facets of the human condition.

“This project is a language in how we define and predict love. I hope everyone can find solace and healing and be relieved from the shackles of control and being controlling. This project is the blueprint of a genre I’m pioneering called Cosmic. Definitely something many may call sonic cinema, explains Nirvana.

Nirvana’s storytelling is intimate, truthful and, quite literally, out of this world with her ethereal sounds and deep passions for astrology. Her personal brand encapsulates the modern-day intellectualised dreamer, reflecting on the complexities of life and her place in the world.

While she is Johannesburg born, she identifies more with her years in KwaMashu and Lamtonville, Durban. Her family is rooted in the arts, making it possible for Nirvana to have participated in the entertainment industry at 4-years-old as a professional. By the age of 10, Nirvana understood what she was doing in entertainment and concluded that she wanted to continue pursuing a career in the arts.

“Nirvana’s latest release shows the diversity, future thinking and artistic integrity she has developed over her career. With massive support from stores such as Apple Music, it’s clear that she has a lot to offer and we’re excited to hear what’s yet to come,” expresses Mike Kelly Label Manager at Paradise.

A creative, a performer, trained singer, actress, producer, fashion model and filmmaker. These are some of the titles that can be attributed to Nirvana Nokwe. The 26-year-old hailing from Jozi is one independent to watch for.
