We Did Not Neglect Mr Ibu – Kate Henshaw Speaks For Actors Guild Nigeria
In recent days, there has been a wave of concern and controversy surrounding the health and welfare of popular Nigerian actor, Mr. John Okafor, well known as Mr. Ibu.
Amidst these concerns, his colleague actress who doubles as the spokesperson for the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN), Kate Henshaw, has stepped forward to address the issue and clarify that the Guild did not neglect Mr. Ibu.
It will be recalled that a few days ago, the wife of the comedic icon, Stella Maris alleged that the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN), did not support her husband when he took ill. She further accused them of exploiting her ailing husband for the sake of chasing clout. This sparked public outcry and raised questions about the guild’s role in supporting its members during times of need.
However speaking on behalf of the guild on Saturday, October 21, Kate maintained that the guild has never left any of its members whether low or high when they’re in dire need, particularly in matters of health. According to her, the guild extended a helping hand to the actor even before he disclosed his health condition, with the full consent and knowledge of his immediate family.

“It is necessary to set the records straight over the public outcry about the AGN abandoning Mr Ibu. The Guild has never abandoned any of its members, especially those with health interventions. We’ve been at the forefront of providing necessary support for Mr Ibu even before his health condition was made public. And this was done with full knowledge of his immediate family.”
“We’ve had to task members privately to help assist with our intervention for his health issues. But it would be wrong to make it public knowledge of any form of assistance we provide to our members in need,” Kate stated.
Despite the controversy, a former Nigerian senate president, Dr Bukola Sakari, through his Abubakar Bukola Saraki Foundation, on Friday, October 20,2023 came to his rescue and settled all his medical bills.
