The Most Popular Entertainer in Ghana (MPEG) Honours was finally launched in Accra over the weekend. The awards, as explained by Francis Doku, Executive Producer, would be an annual cross-discipline scheme that honours Ghanaian professionals in the fields of music, football, boxing, film, comedy, theatre and broadcasting.
The scheme will honour individuals that excelled in their chosen fields, and adjudged by College as the individuals that stood out amongst their peers based on monitoring entertainment activities in the year 2010. The College, made up of professionals and watchers of the various disciplines in Ghana, has chosen 10 honourees in the various categories to receive honours at the main ceremony in March. The general public will now vote to choose the Most Entertaining Personality of 2010 from that list of honourees.

Most Entertaining Footballer Personality of the Year: Asamoah Gyan
Most Entertaining Boxing Personality of the Year: Joseph Agbeko
Most Entertaining Film Acting Personality of the Year: Kofi Adu (Agya Koo)
Most Entertaining Stage Acting Personality of the Year: Andrew Adotey
Most Entertaining Comedy Personality of the Year: Funny Face Benson
Most Entertaining Music Personality of the Year: Amakye Dede
Most Entertaining Radio Broadcast Personality of the Year: Fiifi Banson (Accra), Kwame Adinkra (Kumasi), Nana Otu Gyandoh (Takoradi)
Most Entertaining Television Broadcast Personality of the Year: Nana Aba Anamoah
The public can vote for their favourite entertainer of 2010 from the above list by texting ‘GH followed by name of the entertainer’ to 1736 on all networks, or by voting on www.mpeghonours.com. The voting ends on March 17 and results would be collated and announced at a grand ceremony shortly afterwards. All 10 honourees will receive their honours at the ceremony and the Most Popular Entertainer will be revealed.
There will also be a Lifetime Achievement Honour for the individual adjudged by the College as a consummate entertainer and significant contributor to Sports, Music, Film, Television, Theatre and Broadcasting over the years. As well as the Entertainment Support Institutions Honour for the institution adjudged by the College as a major and significant contributor to Sports, Music, Film, Television, Theatre and Broadcasting over the years.
