British-Ghanaian Filmmaker, Dannyelle Arthur produces “The Rich Legacy Of A Vibrant Fabric”, a documentary on Kente
Despite being a full time mother for two babies under the age of two Dannyelle Arthur previously known as Danielle Atakora successfully produces and directs a brand new documentary film promoting Ghana once again.
After being selected and winning multiple awards, internationally for her famous documentary titled African Diaspora in 2018, British Ghanaian Filmmaker Dannyelle Arthur is back on the scene again with a documentary film about our famous and popular Kente.
Every Ghanaian must own some kente in their household somewhere, can you really be Ghanaian without owning kente? In the new film titled “The Rich Legacy Of A Vibrant Fabric” Dannyelle sheds more light on the hard-work and craftsmanship of our kente weavers. Senior kente weavers are given the opportunity to express their childhood experiences and life being a kente weaver the challenges and the benefits. She promotes deaf kente weavers in her new documentary, she expresses “no disability should be a barrier to success”.
Did you know the people who distribute our famous kente to the British museum? Well In this new documentary film Dannyelle discovers a man called Duncan Clarke who has been helping museums in the UK and USA display our famous fabric.
Not only was the filmmaker endorsed by the UK Prime minister in 2018 for her African Diaspora film but Ghana Tourism Authority has endorsed the new film and encourages more Ghanaian filmmakers to continue sharing Ghanaian history and culture through films.
