eShun to Perform at UN Headquarters in Geneva

eShun- eShun-[/caption] Ghanaian songstress eShun is making international strides as she has been billed to perform at an event organised at the UN Headquarters, in Geneva, Switzerland. The event will have eShun give a speech to address the issue of “statelessness” from the African perspective. She will also perform her song  “I Belong”. The event will also feature Filippo Grandi, the 11th United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, and a formerly stateless woman Artee who lives in Thailand. In October 2013, the UN High Commissioner for Refugees called for the “total commitment of the international community to end statelessness.”2 The Global Action Plan to End Statelessness: 2014 – 2024 (Global Action Plan), developed in consultation with States, civil society and international organisations, sets out a guiding framework made up of 10 Actions that need to be taken to end statelessness within 10 years. Statelessness is a situation where a person is denied of his or her nationality. It is estimated that at least 10 million people are stateless worldwide: they are not considered as nationals by any State under the operation of its law. They often aren’t allowed to go to school, see a doctor, get a job, open a bank account, buy a house or even get married. eShun is the only African who is performing at this year’s event. eShun is expected to release the official music video for her latest hit song Akyia on the 21st of November, 2018.]]>
