Hollywood Writers Fear losing Work to AI
In the heart of the entertainment capital, a growing sense of unease is spreading among Hollywoods’s creative minds. As artificial intelligence (AI) technology continues to advance at an unprecedented pace, writers in the film and television industry are apprehensive about the potential threat it poses to livelihood.
Michelle Amor, a Hollywood screenwriter, has recently revealed that she is fearful about the impact of artificial intelligence (AI) on her livelihood. According to her, she doesn’t want to be replaced with something which is artificial.
Amor and her fellow US television and film writers have now been on strike since the beginning of May 2023. Amongst their key demands is that the studios and streaming giants agree to limits on the future use of AI-powered writing tools, such as ChatGPT.

The writers and their union â the Writers Guild of America â want it in writing that AI can only be used for research purposes, and not to ever replace them.
âMy motherâs union job as a packer for 35 years was replaced with robotics,â says Amor, who currently has two TV projects in development.
Amor, who is seriously against the use of AI in screenwriting further revealed that âWe writers are the heart and soul of this entire industry. No-one works until we do â everyone knows it.â
