Jupitar defends Michael Blackson; says support has been centred towards a few artistes

Published

Reggae/Dancehall musician, Jupitar has come to the defence of Michael Blackson for stating that there are only four internationally acclaimed artists in Ghana.

Blackson had made this statement during a discussion on the “Drink Champs” podcast where he announced that Ghanaian rapper, Gambo was now under his “Blackson Management” label.

“Nigeria has all the stars. I could name ten artists from Nigeria; Davido, Tecno, Kizz Dnaiel… On the other hand, Ghana is becoming the Dubai of Africa and we only have four people from Ghana; You think like Shatta Wale, Stonebwoy, Sarkodie, Black Sherif, and I’m like let me make that fifth person- that’s Gambo,” Blackson said.

Blackson’s statement was not met with praise, as he’s been criticised by some, including Fuse ODG, who thinks it’s embarrassing for Blackson to make such a statement on such a platform.

However, Jupitar has come out to support Blackson’s statement, arguing that it is true because the focus has been on promoting only those four artists, neglecting the others.

“Why are you going hard on @MichaelBlackson for saying he’s only familiar with just 4 artist? I’ve said this before, the focus is just on few acts so for obvious reasons only few will get recognized, until we change our ways to give equal and fair support on every act,” Jupitar tweeted.
