paapaPaapa of Skillions Records is sready to release his anticipated sophomore album curiously titled ‘Songs for Kukua’, on 6th March (Ghana’s Independence Day). The album will be released digitally on www.paapamusic.com and in honor of the National celebration, will be available for free only on 6th March, and will be sold on bandcamp.com afterwards. Details concerning physical copies will also be disclosed afterwards.

The lead single ‘Write for me’, a ballad of a heartbreaking conversation between two characters, Kwaku and Kukua, has received a lot of acclaim from both fans and industry players for its insightful lyricism and introspective instrumentation. Songs for Kukua, Paapa said in an interview, “is an album telling a semi-fictional tale about two characters, Kukua & Kwaku. Who is Kukua? 6th March 1957, which is the day Ghana was born, was a Wednesday. Ghana is Kukua! Kwaku’s character, though quite fictional, borrows a lot from my personal life and much of the story is told from his perspective. He embarks on a voyage that finds him learning important truths about love, faith, wealth, power, prejudice, virtue, among others. I don’t want to give away too much about the story now, but I really think you’ll enjoy the music”. Over a year after the release of his debut album ‘Solar’, which earned him the attention of thousands of fans all over the world, Paapa is now confident in his craft and excited to release the second album which he says “is full of soul”. If the lead single is anything to go by, the full album promises to be introspective, soulful and irreducibly musical. We eagerly await 6th March.]]>
