There was nothing like a written contract between me and Lasmid – Kaywa reveals
Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Highly Spiritual Music, Kaywa has revealed that he never had a written contract with his former signee Lasmid.
In a recent sit- down on Joy Prime’s ‘Prime Morning’ Kaywa explained that the board of MTN Hitmaker gave Lasmid to his label for one year, and added an amount of Ghc40,000 to produce two songs and two videos.
“It’s deeper, there was nothing like even a contract in the first place. We did one year, one year was over, now we had to continue. MTN gave Lasmid to me for one year with Ghc40,000 to produce two songs and two videos, promote two songs, two videos outrageous with Ghc40,000 and I put in all, after a year now his time is over and he was very sad when it was over,” he said.
According to Kaywa, after Lasmid’s one year was done, he put in so much effort to maintain him and they agreed to get a hit song before they can go ahead and sign a contract.
“Now he wants to stay and I also want him to stay, but the young champs in the industry feel that listen, your focus is on this boy, he is no more a part of the label and your focus is on him and I’m not the only person handling the label so I personally called him with some people and I said listen, I still believe in you and I believe in what you can do, let’s do this, let’s agree.

He continued ; “I put in every effort to push you to where you want to get to and because boys are always complaining because Drew will come and tell you , you’re using our money to push this guy and everybody was saying the same thing. so I said let’s push you to where at least you have a hit song then the conversation will be different so once we are signing you on the label proper, nobody will say anything, he agreed, we were all happy and then we start the journey, first, second, third and then the fourth song “Friday Night”, all over, big song and okay so what’s the next thing, we have to sign the contract and move on.
Kaywa further explained that there was a lot of back and forth happening behind the scene, even though Lasmid was eager to sign the contract and join the ‘Highly Spiritual record label’.
“Lasmid was desperate to even sign the contract and I said let’s get the right contract for you and take your time and study it, don’t rush, take your time, he takes his time, studies it and he picks out some few things he thinks we should work on and I told the manager whatever he wants to be done, do it for him, because Lasmid is dear to my heart so whatever he is looking out for, we did a lot of changes, six months changes, ‘I want this, I don’t want that, I want a YouTube channel, everything he wanted, so we are ready let’s sign, and he said No my lawyers, and I didn’t know he had lawyers, it’s good to have lawyers so I asked him where his lawyers were and he said they are in America, some two guys so we’re waiting for them and the lawyers were not coming, so what do we do, because we had to release new songs,” he added.
Reigning VGMA’s new Artiste of the Year, Lasmid parted ways with Kaywa’s ‘Highly Spiritual Music record label’ weeks ago due to internal problems.
