Top 5 performances from Sarkodie’s Black Love Concert

Published

on

Although I missed the trending #BlackLoveConcert by Sarkodie and friends, last Sunday, I have been able to catch up on the spectacular concert with some highlights on the rapper’s YouTube page.

The concert, which had some impressive and perhaps even historic streaming numbers, was held at the Independence Square in Osu with performances from other artists, who were featured on the ‘Black Love’ album as well as other past collaborators.

The Black Love Concert combined the stunning architecture of the iconic Independence Square with impressive lighting and sound to create many memorable moments of live performances to the admiration of a global audience, courtesy CEEK, a leading Virtual Reality platform with concerts from top artist including Katy Perry, Lady Gaga, U2, Elton John, The Killers and more.

I have compiled my top 5 performances from the event

5. Sarkodie and  Yaw Sarpong

The rapper teamed up with iconic Ghanaian gospel musician,  Yaw Sarpong for a rather spiritual performance of songs like ‘Ahobrase3’ and ‘Joseph’

4. Sarkodie and King Promise

King Promise has been one of Sarkodie’s biggest collaborators in recent times, so when they met on stage with King Promise on a piano, it could only be magical. They performed songs like ‘Can’t Let You Go’ and ‘Anadwo’ together. Check also a stunning bonus performance of  ‘Broken Heart’ with Sista Afia.

3. Sarkodie and Akwaboah

Sarkodie and Akwaboah teamed up to produce the magical ‘Mary’ album, and whenever they pair up on stage, it is fireworks! The two performed ‘Mewu’ and ‘Mary’ together.

2. Sarkodie and Efya

Sarkodie and Efya have been creating magic together for over a decade now, so there is nothing else to expect when they share the stage, other thank spectacular! They performed the smash hit, ‘Saara’ from the Black Love album, as well as a special remix of Efya latest single with Tiwa Savage, ‘The One’.

1.The Opening Performance

The opening performance was the first video from the concert that went viral, and it is not surprising why! The stunning performance of ‘Brown Paper Bag’ with Sarkodie standing on top of the Black Star Gate, shadowed by the Black Star of Africa,  symbolised the coming of age for Ghanaian creativity on the global stage for many!
