Trump arrested at Manhattan courthouse ahead of arraignment
Former President Donald Trump was arrested in lower Manhattan on Tuesday and is set to be arraigned on charges stemming from the investigation into a hush money payment to porn star Stormy Daniels. Trump is the first U.S. president to face criminal charges.
Yahoo News reported Monday that Trump will be charged with 34 felony counts when he appears in front of a judge inside the Manhattan Criminal Courthouse, but he will not be put in handcuffs, placed in a jail cell or subjected to a mug shot.
Former President Donald Trump has arrived at the Manhattan Criminal Courthouse, where he is under arrest and in police custody while awaiting his arraignment.
Yahoo News’ Michael Isikoff reports that Trump will be charged with 34 felony counts stemming from the hush money investigation. He will not be placed in handcuffs nor be subjected to a mug shot.
Some protesters and counterprotesters have assembled outside the courthouse, but so far they’ve been outnumbered by media members. Reps. Marjorie Taylor Greene, R-Ga., and George Santos, R-N.Y., made appearances in support of Trump.
