Worlasi, Dark Suburb, Pure Akan, Ria Boss, Asi Renie and others to light up maiden Land of Spirits Festival

ONE of Ghana’s leading multi-talented artistes: rapper, singer, music producer and songwriter with near-excellent vocal range and ability, Worlasi has been billed to perform at the maiden edition of Land of Spirits Festival to be held in Accra.

Worlasi’s vversatility enables him to switch from singing to rapping in English, Ewe, Fante, Ga and Pidgin in a mixture of soul and hip-hop blended with African flavour. His songs are famous for their refreshing and inspiring lyrics.

Worlasi made his debut on Coke Studio Africa in 2017 when he was featured as a Big Break Artist and was paired with Kenya’s Sauti Sol and Nigeria’s Chidinma. He has since done collaborations with some of the industry’s big names, including rapper M.anifest. Some of his hit songs over the years include Comot, Okwasia, Mawuena, Too Naughty, Nuse, One Life, Nukata and You Saw Me.

The afro-fusion singer and rapper will mount the stage to perform some of his hits as one of the leading acts at the Land of Spirits Festival, which takes place at the grounds of the La Palm Royal Beach Hotel this Saturday 7th January.

The Land of Spirits Festival, according to the organisers, promises to be “An Experience Like None Other, the African Way, A Brew of African Cultures, From Past Ages to Distant Days.”

Elorm Kossi Fiaka, Communications Director for the organisers of Land of Spirits Festival, said they were preparing something exciting and filled with the spirit of Africa to present to those who would make it to the maiden event on Saturday.

“As you know, there are many events that take place around Christmas and throughout the year that bring people out to have fun either by themselves or with their friends and family, but there is not one that brings out the essence and spirit of Africa in a manner that binds together the esprit de corps of the African in the manner that Land of Spirts has been created to do,” Fiaka noted.

“Land of Spirits is a festival that brings together people of divergent backgrounds in arts and entertainment, and all the creative points that make the African who they are, in an atmosphere of music, poetry, food, fashion and traditional African drinks and beverages to light up the atmosphere of camaraderie,” he added.

He encouraged people to come out in their numbers on Saturday to the Land of Spirits Festival at the UPPFEST City grounds at La Palm Royal Beach Hotel to have an experience of this festival that is created to not just make them happy, but “do so with the pride of Africa ringing in their minds having attended a festival that celebrates progressive African culture and propels it into the future.”

Other artistes sharing the stage with Worlasi at the festival include Ghana’s famed traditional rock band, Dark Suburb, singer and rapper Nana Kwabena Appiah also known in showbiz as Pure Akan, Ghanaian Afro-punk and highlife band, Senkulive, Ghanaian r&b/soul performer, Ria Boss and Ghanaian neo-soul singer and songwriter, Asi Renie.

“All these musicians have been carefully selected to bring out the quintessential aspect of the Land of Spirits Festival, which is to portray to the world the true talent of Africa created, honed and matured on the continent and here to express the spirt of Africa to Africans and the rest of the world,” said Mandla Mazibuko, Land of Spirits Festival Director.

He added that all activities at the maiden Land of Spirits Festival have been curated to bring out that overriding objective of projecting the spirit of Africa through creative expressions, especially in music, poetry, food and drinks, fashion and arts. “Call it the African festival of music, poetry, arts, food, fashion and spirts (alcohol) and you will be describing Land of Spirits Festival,” Mazibuko noted.

The organisers say there will be a lot of other entertainment including poetry recitals, acrobatic display, comedy and then there will be a lot of food and meat to eat and different drinks for both adults at the festival that would start from midday till midnight. “You can stay all day without going out to get anything, once you enter the festival grounds at the UPPFEST City at La Palm Royal Beach Hotel,” Mandla Mazibuko added.

For those willing to attend the festival to share in the spirt of Africa, the organisers say they can get standard tickets at GHS250 and VIP at GHS350 at Republic Bar, Osu, Gold Coast Restaurant, Kanda or they can buy it online at tix.africa/discover/los dial *711*51#
