Zylofon Arts Fund to help create a vibrant movie industry in Brong Ahafo called ‘Bonowood’
Just when I thought all the woods in the cinematic world had finished, I just came across an article on newshuntersmag.com suggesting that I shouldn’t hold my breath! movie producer, Mr Samuel Nyamekye, has revealed how Zylofon Arts Fund will help to make a vibrant movie industry in the Brong Ahafo Region. He indicated that the yet to be instituted Brong Ahafo Movie Industry will be known as ‘Bonowood’. Mr. Nyamekye said the emergence of ‘Bonowood’ will help to promote the rich culture and language of the region through movie . “We are bringing B/A-Wood into the region for the indigenes to appreciate their unique culture, We are also ready to promote the rich culture by making sure the Bono Language dominates when casting our movies,” the CEO of Miracle Films told Tactical Ras Shifo on Cheers Entertainment Drive on Cheers 100.5 FM which was monitored by the News Hunter Magazine in Sunyani.
He added, “We can’t afford to see the culture of Brong-Ahafo die off just like, hence the need to involve a lot of people from the region.” According to him, many talents will be unearthed through the initiative in the region. Mr Nyamekye, who is a beneficiary of the Zylofon Arts Fund, lauded the idea — and asked the general public to support it.
When asked about the reasons for joining the fund, he said, “Ghana’s movie industry used to excel some few years ago, but the issue with funding has become a challenge nowadays. Currently, Zylofon Media has assured of their support industry with funding, and we appreciate Nana Appiah Mensah for this timely intervention.”
Karimoday, another beneficiary to the fund has called on the youth to support the Zylofon Arts Fund for essential benefits. He stressed that: “Zylofon has come to stay.”
The Zylofon Arts Fund, according to them is aimed at giving financial support to people in the creative arts industry to execute their projects. They urged interested people to submit the business proposals which will be vetted and approved.
As we reported earlier, about 100 youth are set to be employed in the region to help promote products of the Zylofon Arts Fund.
