Transgender Musician, Angel Maxine threatens to expose gay politicians if anti-LGBTQ+ bill is passed

Ghana’s only open transgender musician and LGBTQ+ activist, Angel Maxine, has vowed to reveal a list of politicians in Ghana who are involved in LGBTQ+ activities if the anti-LGBTQ+ bill is passed.

Her threats comes following the recent comments by the speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin that the anti-LGBTQ+ bill will definitely be passed before the house goes on recess for the Christmas holidays.

In a video shared on her Instagram, Angel Maxine listed a number of shortcomings by some Member of Parliaments especially Sam George, who is championing the passing of the bill.

“Sam George or whatever you call yourself, who do you think you are? Who the hell do you think you are? What are your achievements? What jobs have you created in Ghana? Even Prampram, you cannot fix it. How many jobs have you created in Prampram? You are being influenced by people to pass a bill that will affect you.

“Foh Amoaning, Alan Bagbin, Dela Sowah, Emamuel Bedzrah, Rockson Defeamekpor, Rita Adoley Sowah, Ntim Fordjour, Alhassan Suhuyini, Ellen Tosu, Ghanaians are disappointed in all these people. All these names I have mentioned, have brought nothing to their various constituencies. As for Alan Bagin, he is an old fool,” she stated.

According to her, these MPs have done absolutely nothing for their constituents, but are however, focusing their energy on criminalising LGBTQ+ activities in Ghana.

“President Nana Akufo-Addo, check the Jubilee House well if there are no LGBTQ+ people working there. All you these so called politicians, you drive your cars, go and park at Labone secondary school, PRESEC, UPS and your pimps will arrange the boys and bring to you. They are peoples kids, yet their parents are on social media attacking queer people. Do you think we don’t know? People you have abused, people you have molested, people who are hurt, everything is on this paper and they’re ready to talk.

“Pass the bill and I will show you your MPs who are LGBTQ+. You think I have not seen gay politicians? All the MPs who have been texting people to get them boys to sleep with. All of the politicians who have been begging pimps to hook them up with boys. All your chats and conversations are here (points to a pile of documents). Pass the bill and I will expose your family members and children who are queer people. All those queer celebrities, also cannot speak for themselves,” she fumed.

The “Wo Fie” singer further chided her fellow members of the LGBTQ+ community to stop hiding behind their phones and come out and fight for their rights to live peacefully in Ghana.

“LGBTQ society in Ghana what are you doing, always writing proposals. Proposals for what? This is the time to come out and fight. Don’t sit behind phones and tweet and text. This is why you receive funds from the donors. Come out and fight the community and not hide,” she added.
