Get Familiar: Shay Jones Presents “Jones Season The Mixtape”

Born in Osun State Nigeria, Shay Jones (real name David Olako) was raised in Brooklyn, New York.  He schooled all his life in New York City and being from where hip Hop started, he quickly fell in love with music genre. He started playing around with his words, trying to form a rap out of his sentences but it was 2011 that Shay Jones actually took rap music seriously. In 2011, he visited Nigeria and teamed up with his friend Gray Jon’z. Since then Shay Jones started making a name for himself back in the States and in the UK. In 2012 he was also featured on rap group SCG's Mixtape in the UK as well as on Gray Jon’z ‘The Gray Jon'z theory EP’, soon to released in Nigeria. He counts his role models and sources of influence to include: B.I.G to Jay-Z, Kanye West, his mum, M.I, Dbanj, wizkid, Sauce kid aka Sinzu, Jones Fam- Gray jon'z, Bj heartbreak Jones, MC Jones, Bill Jones, Archie Jones, Prince Jones, and Rico Jones. He comments “my style of music is all about good music, good things in life, the swag I bring, and a lot of things young people like to hear. Something like Wiz Khalifa mixed with Sauce Kid I guess.” Shay Jones  is set to release his new mixtape, “Jones Season The Mixtape” which features collaborations with Gray jon'z, Cartaiar, Jakuzzy, T-wizzle, Saucekid, Terry da rapman, Pherosheus Frenzy, Nasty j, Base 1, 2kriss, W4 and Kida-Kuz.
