Michael Blackson clarifies ‘‘only 4 Ghanaian superstars’’ statement

America based Ghanaian Comedian and actor, Michael Blackson has clarified what he meant by his “only four artists from Ghana” statement.

Blackson has faced a lot of criticism online since his interview on the Drinks and Champs Podcast where he stated that there are only four internationally acclaimed artists in Ghana.

“Nigeria has all the stars. I could name ten artists from Nigeria; Davido, Tecno, Kizz Dnaiel… On the other hand, Ghana is becoming the Dubai of Africa and we only have four people from Ghana; You think like Shatta Wale, Stonebwoy, Sarkodie, Black Sherif, and I’m like let me make that fifth person- that’s Gambo,” Blackson said.

Blackson’s statement was not met with open arms, especially from Fuse ODG, who called out the Comedian for embarrassing Ghanaians on such a platform.

‘‘Hey Modasucka my Broda I know we have a 100 artist in Ghana but I meant there are about 4 that are mainstream, let’s all work together and make 10 to 20 of them worldwide like Nigeria has. Us Ghanaians are too talented to be hidden. My goal is to introduce them to the world.”
