WATCH: Stonebwoy and Kojo Jones donate to Ashaiman Police towards fight against coronavirus
Black Entertainment Tv (BET) award-winning Reggae/Ragga & Dance-hall artiste, Stonebwoy and Kojo Jones Mensah of (Burniton Music Group + The Livingstone Foundation) and (Empire Concrete & KJM Foundation) respectively, have made donations to Ashaiman Police Station earlier, as a way to support the security personnel who are also frontline workers helping to curtail the spread of the pandemic.
The two Chief Executive Officers (CEOs) of the non-governmental and charity organization also embarked on this social intervention program aimed at supporting the Ashaiman security department who, for the last five days, has been at the forefront controlling the movement of commuters during this period of partial Lockdown announced by the president to prevent the further spread of Coronavirus (COVID-19) in Ghana.
This timely intervention by the organizations is also poised at augmenting the Government’s efforts towards controlling and managing the spread of the virus in the country which Ghana has recorded 205 cases and 5 deaths. The items, which include packs of water, packs of Big Boss energy drink, among others, were presented by Stonebwoy and Kojo Jones Mensah. The items were received by Regional and District commander during a brief ceremony in Ashaiman.
According to Stonebwoy, both organizations have recognized the invaluable contributions of the security service working hard in accordance with the state’s institutions, including the health sector to ensure that the Coronavirus does not spread hence the decision to provide them with such relief items to motivate them to continue to work for the nation. He added, both charity foundation have been noticed the challenges confronting the nation in the wake of the Corona virus pandemic
The Regional and District commander, expressed pleasure in the humanitarian step taken by Stonebwoy and Kojo Jones Mensah, urging them to educate and task Ghanaians and all and sundry to adhere to the recommended safety measures put in place by the Ghana Health Service and other health experts.
As at 31 st March 2020, 15:00 hrs, nine (9) new cases of COVID-19 have been reported from NMIMR since the last update at 08:30hrs on 30th March 2020. All nine (9) were reported from Accra, three (3) of them travelled to Ghana within the past 14 days from Germany, France and Hungary respectively but for six (6) of them there is no history of travel outside.
The Kumasi Centre for Collaborative Research (KCCR) also reported on tests from 77 samples including samples from 41 asymptomatic contacts of a case from Tamale Teaching Hospital and all are NEGATIVE for COVID-19. This brings up to a total of 161 confirmed COVID-19 cases in Ghana, including five (5) deaths as of 31 st March 2020 at 15:00Hr.
Three (3) of the confirmed cases have fully recovered and reverted to negative status for COVID-19 after repeat test following recovery from symptoms. As at 31st March 2020, additional thirty-one (31) confirmed cases have significantly improved with no symptoms and have been discharged from admission for home care pending repetition of laboratory tests. This adds to the 18 that were earlier being managed from home and bring the number of cases on home care to forty-nine (49).
Processes for enhanced contact tracing and laboratory testing have been initiated. A total of 1,185 contacts have been identified and are being followed up. It is prudent to note that, all five (5) deaths had underlying chronic medical conditions prior to COVID-19 infection
