CPP calls for refund of application fees from youths seeking employment

Published

The attention of the Office of Nana Akosua Frimpomaa has been drawn to the absurd and cruel requirements demanded by state institutions and security agencies for desperate job seeking Ghanaian youth, to pay a sum of one hundred Ghana cedis (Ghs 100.00) as application fees for a job with no certainty of employment and one hundred and fifty Ghana cedis as interview fees for persons with interest in the nursing profession.

The focus of the government should be expansion of opportunities for the youth, making them the center and beneficiaries of state policies and intervention. This evidently contradicts the goodwill claim of the government for the Ghanaian youth.

State institutions should not be collecting mandatory fees for application or any other fees for state sponsored ventures; this practice is even very uncommon with private institutions.

The office of Nana Akosua Frimpomaa demands an immediate refund of all monies taken from unemployed youth seeking to make ends meet in their own country before the celebration of The Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Day, thus 21st September, 2021. The government must end this exploitation now.

The Ghanaian youth have shown their zeal and readiness to work hard, improve their lives and pursue better opportunities despite the present frustrating circumstances. Our priority should be creating better opportunities and policies to support the improvement of the youth and the country at large.

We appeal to the President of Ghana, Nana Addo Danquah Akuffo Addo to commit to ending this absurd and cruel state exploitation of the Ghanaian youth.
