Politics is a “risky” business, and any celebrity who sticks his or her nose out for any political candidate is bound to face a lot of backlash from their fans.

During the 2016 General elections in Ghana, tens of celebrities took this risky road and campaigned for their favourite politicians. Ghanaian singer, Mzbel, was one of those who through thick and thin, stayed by and campaigned for former President John Mahama and the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

According to Mzbel, those were some of the most dangerous times of her life, as she almost lost her life.

In an interview with Caleb Nii Boye on Showbiz 92.7, the “Sixteen Years” hitmaker revealed that she has learnt her lessons from endorsing the NDC, while revealing some of the things she had to endure while campaigning for them.

“I have been through a lot because of politics…I have been attacked in traffic, I have been attacked at home, I have been attacked on stage. A grown woman actually egged me on stage because of politics,” MzBel recounted.

Mzbel shared that all these experiences, and advice from her fanbase left her with no choice but to stick to her music and other businesses.
