During an interview on Daybreak Hitz with DJ Slim, the crooner expressed his desire for a structured system that would make nominees of Award schemes feel appreciated, highlighting the importance of acknowledging one’s hard work.  The singer  further voiced his disinterest in award schemes, citing controversies, inconsistencies, and the promotion of rivalry amongst artistes as reasons.

“I wish it can be structured in a way that even when you are nominated, you will feel good,” he said while acknowledging the value of recognition for one’s work,” he said.

Kwabena Kwabena criticized the tendency for awards to become personalized, leading to conflicts and disagreements among artists.

The ‘Adult Music’ hitmaker pointed out that such incidents detract from the enjoyment of the ceremony and the entertainment value. He then advocated for an award scheme that promotes unity and mutual respect among artists, suggesting that a collaborative approach would be more appealing to him.

While he enjoys the entertainment aspect of award ceremonies, where he can perform and celebrate music, Kwabena Kwabena made it clear that he prefers a focus on unity rather than rivalry.

Despite his reservations about award schemes, he expressed his willingness to participate in any activities related to his craft on platforms created by the organizers of such events.

Kwabena Kwabena recently performed at the 25th Telecel Ghana Music Awards, paying tribute to the legendary highlife musician Amakye Dede, who received the Lifetime Achievement Award. Additionally, he has released a new song titled ‘Fakye Me’, which is part of a 5-track gospel EP that he plans to release later this year.
