There was no pressure to also win “Artiste of the Year” because Kuami Eugene won it in 2020- KiDi

Reigning “Artiste of the Year” at the 2022 edition of the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMAs), KiDi has stated that there was absolutely no pressure from his label to also pick the coveted award.

KiDi’s label mate, Kuami Eugene was crowned the “Artiste of the Year” at the 2020 edition of the award show, a feat, music lovers anticipated would put a lot of pressure on KiDi.

However, speaking in an interview with Ameyaw TV at his unveiling as KFC Ghana’s Brand Ambassador, KiDi explained that there was absolutely no pressure on him in that regard.

“Not at all. Awards are not like that, No! It’s good, nice, if you win an award for your handwork, but if you don’t win an award, the job doesn’t stop. You see there’s an ultimate goal which is the music, if I hadn’t won the work continues, so there was nothing like pressure on my side to pick an award. I’ve picked it now, but if I hadn’t, the work would have still continued,” he told Ameyaw TV.
